The Series is based on Albert Espinosa’s bestseller, Secrets of Happiness from the Yellow World. The book contains Espinosa’s autobiographical accounts of his time as a young cancer patient.
Leo, Jonas, Emma, Alex, Toni and Hugo are between 12 and 17 years old and chronically ill. While their peers can go to school, live at home with their parents, and play and hang out with friends, the six are „trapped“ in the hospital. They all share the same fate and the attempt to lead a normal life and so they become a tight-knit community, support each other, and give each other hope. These best friends become the “Club der roten Bänder”.
